Hello

As you are continuing to have pain and you have seen some blood you should contact the department who carried out the sigmoidoscopy and ask them what you should do.  If you cannot get in touch with them then speak to your GP.  Make sure you get to speak to someone about it as soon as you can to be on the safe side .

I called the hospital department who asked me to speak to 111. They told me to go to my nearest A&E and I had blood tests done and tummy examinations. 

They told me to go in tomorrow at 9am for an ultrasound. I'm not looking forward to having barely any sleep. I would have rather stayed overnight at the hospital but I guess there must be a reason why they decided for me not to. I have just come back home and it's 3am. My head is banging. I hope I'll be okay tomorrow.

I gave it until 12 until I decided to ask reception. They quickly took me to get an ultrasound and he said I was supposed to be there at 9am. I said that I came earlier and checked into reception! It turns out they didn't check me in! He joked that I should slap them in the face. If only I chased it up earlier, I didn't want to be annoying.

He said he didn't find anything abnormal in the ultrasound which is reassuring. I do wonder why I'm in so much pain though. He said to wait half an hour to see if I need further investigations. I hope I can for peace of mind!

Oh no! I'm so sorry that happened...

Something similar happened to someone I was with once. In the end I was assertive and, despite their protestations to just wait, queried at reception. Turned out the person I was accompanying had been booked in but missed their call for a baseline hearing test – strange neither of us heard it. I have extremely good hearing. Maybe they should have put people's names up on a board in a place like that. Apparently, we had missed not one but three calls?? It might have happened because we thought we were seeing Consultant (suspected neuroma) so sat facing that area, whereas the calls for the hearing test, which no one told us about, were elsewhere. Plus there was an awful lot of background noise with deaf people talking very loudly. It was a long, long morning ...
