20mm womb lining

Pan ultrasound last week and hold the lining of my bottom is 20 mm I was prompted to go to the doctors as I have been bleeding intermittently for six months now and I am is 47 years of age/.

i'm massively panicking as a doctor has told me that was the ultrasound didn't show any cancer it's likely that I could have a pre-cancer and I need to be fast track to gynaecology.
I also have smouldering myeloma but luckily I was being treated for that currently, just "watch & wait".
I pretty much convinced myself I've got endometrial cancer.

  • Hey

I'm 40 and have had excruciating periods, sent for scans to which highlighted 17mm lining thickening and fibroids.

I had a biopsy done on 4th August, so now I'm waiting for the results (4~6wks) it's an OK wait, some days I'm consumed by the thoughts of having EC and others telling myself 'what will be will be'

I hope you are OK, I'm the same though in respect of, diognosing myself through Google I can't help myself, but I need to be prepared just incase...

Fingers crossed for you chick x

  • I'm sorry  that you have had to go through this. I didn't realise how long the wait time was to get results. I'm not sure how my mental health will deal with this.

  • It does feel like an extremely long wait for such an important answer, I'm still having OK days, thoughts keep creeping in and I'm back on Google, I'm finding myself analysing every twinge, feeling, symptom etc.. So it can become quite obsessive I think... But I'm still a firm believer in 'worry when there is something concrete to worry about' It really is just the waiting time.

If only we could hack the system

Hope you're coping with your nerves, always here for a chat hunni xx ️

  • I'm the same. I'm obsessing about every twinge.

  • Did you have a biopsy hunni? Have you heard anything at all x

  • I'm waiting for a gynae appointment... The doctor rang me with my ultrasound results yesterday and he said he was going to put me on a two week urgent referral to Gynae

  • Right I'm with you!  I waited 9days for the letter to come through and the appointment was pretty prompt thereafter. On my 1st oncology appointment they assessed everything but did a biopsy there and then, just to prepare you for that. Xx

  • Hello Clara-lou, and thanks for posting

It is difficult when waiting for appointments, your mind can race with lots of situations. But until you are seen at the gynaecology appointment it is difficult to say exactly what might be happening.

I've provided here a link to hyperplasia, which could be what they saw on the ultrasound.

All you can do is wait for the hospital appointment, so keep yourself busy so your mind is distracted and time passes.

I know its hard but try not to google as the internet isn't your doctor who can assess and diagnose you properly so can cause you more concern.

It's good to see you are getting support from other forum users too, but do always remember that everyone's situation will be individual to them.

Take care, and if you find you want to talk things through with a nurse our helpline number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040, 9am till 5pm, Monday to Friday.

    Sarah.
