Uterus cancer

My mum was recently diagnosed with uterus cancer that spread to lungs the doctor said that she needs to start chemotherapy first I just want to know if she is going to be ok. I am giving her Manuka honey and matcha tea that helped her a lot to have appetite back. I just would like to know is that true that foods with high antioxidants will help to slow dow the growth of the cancer cells?

thanks

  • Hello Nas and thanks for posting,

As far as I am aware, it isn't know if foods naturally high in antioxidants can slow down the growth of existing cancers in people. The usual advice to people with cancer is to follow a healthy, varied and well balanced diet including a decent amount of plant based foods which are generally higher in antioxidants, but this is the same advice that is given to everyone.

I am glad to know that your mum's appetite is improving. Chemotherapy can sometimes affect the appetite and the way food tastes and some people may go off their food or feel queasy for a while just after treatment.  You mum may do ok, but if she has any problems be sure she lets her medical team know to get their advice.

If you want to talk anything over please do give us a call on 0808 800 4040, we are around weekdays 9-5.

    Best wishes,

    Julia
