Suspicious polop

Hi  I had a colonoscopy on Sunday last , where they couldn't remove it because of size. They did biopsy on it whilst doing the procedure. They gave me a card for macmillan nurse and said I needed mri and ct scan In next couple of week as out side was benign but centre is suspicious . A day or two after got appointments for both of these scans. On Wednesday bowl dr phoned up and asked what I had been told. I explained the above and told me my case will be reviewed by my care team about how to deal with my case on the 19th he said who would be there including an oncologist.  Does it mean I have cancer as no one has said the words to me.

  • Hello, and thank you for posting.

It is difficult to say what exactly the team are thinking and whether you have a cancer.  The biopsy they have taken needs to be looked at properly under a microscope and they have to compare information with your MRI and CT scan results. This will all happen at the Multi disciplinary team meeting (MDT) that is happening about your case on the 19th. If they do think you have a cancer diagnosis they will come up with a treatment plan of what will happen next.

Take care, and when you find out more if you want to get back to us do give our helpline a call. The number is Freephone 0808 800 4040, open from 9am till 5pm, Monday to Friday.

  • Well the meeting should of gone a head on Friday...unluckily for me I've been stuck in hospital since wednesday as I decided to break my hip wednesday morning and had a full hip replacement on Thursday morning ..the mdt  team know I'm in here so still waiting for diagnosis on it. Apparently it is 5-6 cm my polop  thing

  • Well it's been confirmed I actually insisted to know whether it was cancer or not as my meeting was delayed for a week so straight after meeting someone phoned to say I would know next week at a meeting . I forced to pin her down on whether it was or not cancer as my mental and physical health are suffering and she kindly told me. I truly hope the hip op will not push treatment back
