Essential thrombocythemia and pregnancy

Hi

Glad I found this chat I was so lost with the last few years since diagnosis

I was diagnosed at the age of 27 and I have been trying to conceive

Finally I am getting somewhere as I am in the early stages of pregnancy but I cannot find information on this anywhere

Please help id appreciate any input

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

Firstly congratulations on your pregnancy and I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

I can appreciate your interest in finding out more about ET and pregnancy but as you say there seems to be limited information available.

The information I have found does mention patients with ET having higher risk pregnancies which of course must be a concern. However it seems to say with close monitoring and the use of low dose aspirin that these risks can be reduced and women can go on to deliver healthy babies.

Do talk to your haematologist, GP and midwife about this so they can ensure you get the care and treatment you need at this time.

MPN voice here also have information about pregnancy and you may wish to get in contact with them as well.

Wishing you all the very best and do get back in touch if you need or want to.

    Take care,

    Naomi

  • Thanks so much Naomi .. that's been so helpful and has eased my mind somewhat
