Worried About Symptoms.

Hi, I hope it's ok to post here about this. I'm feeling poorly at the moment and have done for a while but hoped it would get better. But it hasn't improved at all it's got worse and the worse it's got the more bad I've felt. I'm not sure whether it's cancer or just anxiety causing me problems. I have anxiety disorder and autism and before they did cause tummy ache but now it's more pain, upset tummy and I don't feel well in myself. Cancer runs in my family and what I am feeling is what both my mum and aunt had so I am feeling very worried about this now. I thought of saying to doctor about it but what if it's nothing I don't want to waste any ones time.

I'm hoping a nurse or someone else might be able to tell me whether it's likely cancer or something else.

Thanks x

  • I would call the drs it's not time wasting, thats those who frequently call for so many minor problems. Explain about mum and your aunt, they may do some tests to see if your ok. They may also  have some medication that would help you feel better. They are there to put your mind at rest.
    take care

  • Hi Susie. Thank you for understanding I hope the doctor will be as nice as you are. I try not to worry too much about this but I know it can be really bad and it can affect through family's. I'm sorry.

    Thank you for writing back.

    Sorry.

  • Hello Princess

I am sorry you aren't feeling very well in yourself at the moment and are experiencing some symptoms that are troubling you.

I'm afraid no one here can tell you what the matter is and it is best if you arrange an appointment to speak to your GP. You won't be wasting their time and they are in the best place to assess what may be going on and arrange some more tests if needed.

Most of the time symptoms are caused by something far less than cancer  but if they don't settle after a little while or get worse then they should be looked at by a doctor, just to be sure.

I appreciate when family members have had cancer it can make us more worried about getting cancer ourselves but this may not happen and your risk may not be any higher than anyone else's. This is something you can also chat through with your doctor when you speak to them.

Many people suffer with anxiety and this can bring on or make symptoms feel worse. This is something your GP may also be able to help you with and also there is some helpful information about dealing with anxiety here and here.

Talk to your doctor when you can and I hope you feel better soon

    Take care
