Lump in side of breast on rib cage

Hi

im on holiday in lanzarote and since laying face down on the sun beds I've noticed a pain at first in my right breast, on the side near my ribs, tonight I've lay on my side and felt a hard painful lump. It doesn't move and hurts to touch. It seems to of come on very quickly over the last few days. Anyone had this and do you think it's anything to be concerned about. I'm 38 and a mother of 4. I'm very slim and the lump is almost noticeable through my skin

  • Could be anything. BC doesn't tend to be sore, but can be for some people. It's how my wife noticed her lump after some pain on a particular day. The lump was large and seemed to come up very quickly.

Is the lump actually on the skin or under?

Regardless, a doctor will have to evaluate it especially if it's hard and immovable.

  • Hello Natalie W and thanks for your post

I'm sorry you are worried about a breast lump. Breast lumps are relatively common and most of the time are caused by breast cysts or fatty tissue also called fibroadenomas.  You can read more about these benign ( non cancerous ) breast lumps/ conditions here.

However, it's best to get the lump checked out by your GP just to be on the safe side. They will assess you and advise you further.

I hope everything turns out to be okay.

    Take care,

    Celene
