High Risk HPV hpv and low grade dykaryosis

Hi all,

I was told I have the above and I shouldn't be worried. However, since my last period two weeks ago, I have had abnormal bleeding twice (Thick red blood). My discharge had a foul smell to it too and I know it's not BV. I feel bloated and have this uncomfortable weird pain in my tummy and pelvic area, it's not strong but it's there.

I have a hospital appt in two weeks but until then I am just sooo worried

  • Hello there

I am sorry to hear you are having some symptoms that are worrying you and suggest you speak to your GP about this if these continue or get worse.

There can be a number of reasons for symptoms and most will be harmless but if they are worrying and ongoing they should be checked out by your doctor, so they can assess and treat you if needed.

HPV and abnormal cells aren't known to cause symptoms so your symptoms are likely to be unrelated. At your colposcopy appointment the cervix will be closely examined and they may also take a biopsy to confirm the abnormal cells and help guide treatment decisions. Often than not low grade changes don't need removing and are just kept an eye on as they often sort themselves out.

Talk to your doctor or practice nurse when you are able and see what they say.

Hope everything works out okay for you

    Take care

    Naomi
