The specialist doctor involved in your care are often the best person to ask this question to. However as every patient is different it can be difficult to predict what the future may look like. Living with uncertainty can be unsettling but sometimes there is no way of knowing.

Talk to your team when you can or your lung cancer clinical nurse specialist if you have one and see what they have to say. You may also find some counselling helpful so maybe ask about this as well.
