Confused about TZ on cervical Biopsy

Hi, I've been having irregular bleeding so went to my gp who said I have an ectropian and reffered me to colposcopy, I had a biopsy taken but the result were inadequate no tz seen so they repeated the biopsy and results say i have inflammation but no tz again, the doctor wants to do a cold coag treatment but I'm worried that i should be having a lletz due to the tz not being shown.

I have been suffering with post coital/instrumenstrual bleeding, I had treatment for cin 1 twice 10 years ago and have a family history of cervical cancer.

Should I be concerned with there treatment option or does it not matter about the tz?

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

It is really only your doctors or colposcopist who is involved in your care who can really give you an opinion on how to treat your cervix. They are in the best place to make this decision.

Jo's Trust have some useful questions to ask the doctors involved in your care about any treatment choices which you can see here

Doctors at a colposcopy clinic treat many women on a daily basis but it is important that you are able to discuss any concerns that you have so you feel comfortable about any treatment decision.

Let them know about the post coital pain and bleeding that you are having and your concerns about cervical cancer. Everyone is treated very individually and I am sure that they will have thought carefully about what treatment would be best to treat your cervix.

You are more then welcome to ring to speak to one of the helpline nurses.
