  • Hi Millieotto and thanks so much for posting,

It does sound like you are worried about this.

The symptoms that you are having can be caused by different things, it is not uncommon to have bloating which worsens during the menopause, due to changing hormones, and you do have a past history of bowel surgery, and these can both play a significant part. Your CT scan was clear and the gynaecologist will have reviewed these results carefully, so this should be reassuring. Your CA125 is only mildly raised above the normal limit, and has in fact decreased from last time.

Although the scans have come back clear, if you are still having bloating which is concerning you, then contact your GP and discuss how you are feeling about this with them to see what they suggest. They might consider your bowel history more.

Do try and consider your daily diet, as some food intolerances, as well as the menopause, can cause a more sensitive bowel and stomach. Some people say that taking pro/prebiotics, live yoghurts, and kefir products has helped with their overall gut balance, so maybe worth a try. If you have had severe bloating for years, then it isn't likely to be a new symptom of a cancer.

On the left of this page there are other areas where you might like to post to get more of a response from others on the forum.  Do remember that everyone has a different experience and even if people have the same symptoms as you, their outcome and circumstances may be very different.

You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care

    Rachel
