Missing polyps GA

Hi all,

I originally had a hysteroscopy which found thickening and polyps. I had an endometrial biopsy and results came back clear. I then went in for a polyp removal but couldn't cope with the pain this time round, so was rebooked for a general.

Had the general last week and the surgeon has said they couldn't find the polyps so they weren't removed! She took another biopsy of my lining which I need to wait for the results for but I'm now terrified that I have two more polyps left inside me that could possibly be cancer.

My question is, if my lining is clear, does it mean the polyps will be too? The whole experience had been very, very traumatic. Doesn't help that I don't even know who to call, as it was day surgery.

Thanks for reading xx

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

Some small endometrial polyps can go away by themselves and this is what might have happened.  Or they may have shrunk in size and not be possible to see. I think that when you get your biopsy results you should talk with the doctor about this as it is worrying you.

Waiting for the results of tests and investigations can be a worry so I hope you have some support.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
