If this little lump is a lymph node, I am not sure from what you describe if it is much bigger than it should be. In general I think nodes that are less than one cm aren't usually anything much to worry about. Infections can make lymph nodes get bigger, and while an infection persists they are likely to stay that way settling down after the infection has gone. 

Try not to worry too much. 

I hope the appointment with your GP goes well and they are able to help to put your mind at rest.
