  • Hello Shell and thanks for your post,

I am sorry about your diagnosis of ET and MDS and I can appreciate your concern for your symptoms.

It's good to know that your GP has referred you to an endocrinologist to find out what is causing your symptoms.

If you are concerned that your symptoms are anything to do with your ET then contact your haematology nurse specialist (if you have one) or your haematologist doctor (perhaps via the secretary) to let them know.

If your shortness of breath has not been checked by a doctor then let your GP know. If you feel it is getting worse or you are worried about it and you cannot contact your GP call the NHS on 111 for advice, just to be on the safe side.

In regards to your sweating have you checked your temperature to see if it is high, as this could indicate an infection. If it is you need to let your GP and haematology team know and NHS 111 if you need to.

Overall I am afraid that no one here can tell you what is the matter but it does seem that your GP is helping you with this referral.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
