Ovarian cancer worry

Hi, I'm a 34 year old female, over the past 6 months or so I have been struggling with aching  sensations round my pelvic area. I put it down to stress. The last 2 months I have had the following symptoms, bloating, needing to urinate frequently,  aching sensation more central, bleeding after sex,  irregular periods, not feeling hungry or feeling full alot quicker and generally feeling tired alot. I plan on calling the doctors next week but feel like it will get fobbed off in general. Any advice would be great

  • Hello and thank you for your post.

Gynaecological cancers are not common at all in younger women, so another medical or gynaecological explanation is more likely. Ovarian Cysts and hormonal level changes, and other factors can all affect periods.

The NHS has information about this here,

    www.nhs.uk/.../

So, your symptoms could be related to different gynaecological conditions, such as fibroids, or hormone imbalances. Your various symptoms may well be not related to each other either.

When you have any ongoing gynaecological symptoms, the best thing to do is to make an appointment with your GP. They would examine you, take a history and if necessary, discuss your menstrual cycle and contraception. They may consider doing further tests if this is needed. It's often a process of elimination to find out the cause of someone's symptoms. If your GP thought it was necessary, they would refer you on to a gynaecologist.

I can appreciate your concern, but I am sure that your doctor will get to the bottom of it.

Try to not over worry, and keep yourself busy and distracted. The support of friends and family can help a lot too.

I hope that this reply helps,

    Best wishes,

    Vanda
