Looking for answears

I have previously had 2 coils fitted since app 2012 for early Menapause symptoms, had no peroids in that time! Early last year zent for a probe and ultra scan of womb and Utrus as getting pains, I was told I had Cysts of no concerns and these will probably go and the doctors would probably just keep a check. 5 weeks ago I had my coil changed and I bleed so heavily I had to go casualty 4 days later, they gave me an ultra scan and blood test and tablets to stop the bleeding.A week later I get an  appointment from Gynacologyst Oncolyst for following week but I was on holiday, my app is 9th june now but I am worried, why do they want to see me, I thought it was the coil that made me bleed or have they found something on scan after all surely just a normal Gynacologyst coyld done a review surelt a Oncolyst means they have found something I am so worried

  • Hello and thanks for your post

Gynaecology/oncology services cover diagnostic tests so I don't think it is out of the ordinary to be referred to this team. I think the appointment has probably been triggered by the bleeding.

A lot of tests are done to rule cancer out and with abnormal bleeding in women who are post menopausal, cancer becomes a bit more of a possibility just because all cancers get more common as we age. So it is taken seriously and properly looked into but it can also have nothing to do with cancer.

Waiting for more tests and to see what the doctors think is inevitably worrying, but unfortunately there is no way around it. Hopefully nothing serious will be the matter.

Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday

    Kind regards,

    Celene
