confused

i finished my second course of radiotherapy for cervical cancer April this year. i started to feel painnand weakness i my legs, this gradualy got worse, eventualy i could not walk at all and had to spend two months in rehab having physio. i am home now and progressing though it is very slow. Can anyone shed any light on what may have happened as the docs didnt seem to know.

  • Hello nannychrissy47 and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to learn about what happened after your radiotherapy but pleased to know that with the physio things are improving, albeit slowly.

I don't think anyone here on Cancer Chat can explain very well why this pain and weakness came on. My best guess is that it is something to do with tissue inflammation or nerve changes possibly as a result of the radiotherapy, but I think you need to ask your speciaist oncology team to explain and if they are now able to pin it down to one specific cause.  Sometimes doctors can't be sure what is going on but are able to rule out certain things, so it might help to know their thinking.

I am sorry not to be more informative.

    All the best,

    Julia

  • Thankyou for your reply. i have asked various medical staff(in oncology) but they  cannot pin point what it may or may not be.Maybe i will never find out, but as long as i keep improving thats all that matters. Some days are godd some days my les hurt but i am trying work through this, as they say  no pain no gain"""" but thankyou again.
