Swollen lymph node

Hello

I was just wondering if I should be worrying about the lymph node on my neck.

It's on the back right side at the bottom of my neck, it feels pretty hard to the touch but I am kind of able to move it, it's around the size of a pea and it doesn't give any pain or hurt when I touch it, I think it's been 2 weeks almost.

I have been fighting another infection at the same time, my voice has been hoarse for almost a month now, but isnt bad all the time.

I don't have any other lymph nodes just the one, but when should i begin to worry or is it just because of the infection I am fighting at the moment.

Thank you

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

I am afraid that we cannot tell anyone what is the matter. Lymph nodes can increase when there is an infection so this could be why you feel this one has changed. The best thing to do is to stop touching and prodding it as this could make it feel worse.

You are most probably going to be fine to leave this and see how it goes, as I said lymph nodes can increase because of infection and they can stay like that for a few weeks (at least) after the infection has gone.

If it persists and/ or you are worried then do go and get a GP appointment to get checked out. Seeing your GP about this still does not mean you necessarily have cancer, in fact most people will not, but it will hopefully give you peace of mind.

    Take care,

    Caroline
