Overall,  as the doctor said she doesn't think anything bad is going on, this doesn't really sound very worrying. I don't think it is unusual for doctors to ask for additional scans to be able to review a combination of images although I am not sure if I would say it is normal either. I think this varies from one person to another, don't let it throw you off balance and bear in mind what was said.
