Breast pain and menopause after biopsy

Hi,

I am new to this forum and have read some reassuring posts.

I has 5 biopsies on my left breast about 10 weeks ago. The 2 lumps turned out to be benign.... .... however, I am now experiencing some pain in my left breast similar to when it was healing. I am peri-menopausal so don't know whether this is normal (to be honest this peri makes me question my sanity anyway and sticks a doom cloud on my head every now and then so it could be normal).

Anyone else experienced this a length of time after biopsies?

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

I am sorry you have ongoing pain since your biopsies but glad to hear that they were all benign. Your monthly cycle can cause breast discomfort so that plus healing could be causing extra pain. Biopsies can also take 3 months to heal sometimes. Here is a good link talking about breast pain in non cancerous situations.

It might be good to contact your GP or if you have another breast appointment coming up do discuss it with them too. Maybe take some over the counter pain killers and give your GP surgery a call to organise a telephone appointment. They can then assess you properly as sometimes infections can cause pain too.

Take care, and I hope this improves for you soon.

    Sarah.
