Cervical smear - white dots

I had a cervical smear done this morning, and the nurse who done it asked for a 2nd opinion from another nurse, the nurse who asked for a 2nd opinion isn't a student she has been doing it for 20years so I'm assuming she has seen it all, Basically they can see white dots on my cervix, has anyone had a smear and had the same thing found? And was it cancerous?

Thanks for reading and please reply

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

I realise that you are most probably are waiting for someone else who might have experienced this before to respond. However, because this in Ask the Nurses area we are replying to you.

Didn't the nurse say what this could be? If not it might be a good idea to get back in touch with the nurse that saw this and ask her about it. While I don't know what this is I wonder if it could be a sign of infection rather than a cancer.  If there was a concern that this was a cancer I am sure you would have been told and likely to be referred to the hospital.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.

    Take care,

    Caroline
