Core biopsy

Gd afternoon I had a core biopsy and needle aspiration done due to changes on a recent mammogram. It was. Lymph node that they found scanned in my armpit but that fine , I got my result yest said normal breast tissue but was no trace of lymph node material in the biopsy and probably would have to get the tests repeated and would let me know . However I got a phone call bk to state radiology happy with the result and go bk to 3 yearly mammogram. The question I'm wondering is should they have been lymph node material in the biopsy or am I over thinking it. Thank you

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I'm afraid it is difficult for us to comment too much into your situation without being directly involved in your care.

I am sure if they had been concerned there wasn't enough sufficient information from the biopsy they would have repeated it or arranged follow up sooner, so try and be reassured by this.

I assume they took the biopsy under ultrasound guidance so they should have taken the sample from the suspicious area. As long as the sample has come back as normal that is the important thing

If you remain concerned do call the breast unit back again to air your worries and to get a better understanding. And of course if you notice any changes in your armpit or breasts do speak to your GP so they can assess you and refer you back to the breast clinic.

    All the best
