Duct Removel

After an appointment yesterday I'm due to have all my ducts removed from one breast at the age of 29 after a lump being found and red bleeding from the nipple from some time, The operation is in 6 days so not a lot of time and  I'm a bit nervous about it and would love to hear from someone who has had it done on how the recovery is as it being the summer hoildays I'm a bit nervous with the fact I've got 4 small children to look after my partner will be taking 2 days off but unfortunately after that it's back to mum life , Also some advice on bras for after surgery would be great as I've had no advice on what I'll be able to wear which isn't very helpful at tall.

thankyou!

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear that you are having surgery. I am sure that when you go in for surgery you will be given information by either the surgeon or the breast care nurse about what to expect afterwards.

Breast Cancer Now have produced some information about having your ducts removed which you can read more about here

From what I can understand you either have the surgery done as a day case or you have an overnight stay. Your doctors will give you advice on any painkillers that you may need at home.

We have a list of suppliers of bras after surgery which you can look at here

We also have a list of bras that may be suitable after surgery here

You have posted in ask the nurses if you post on a different thread you may get more responses from other women who have gone through a similar surgery

If you feel that it would be helpful to ring and speak to one of the nurses then you are more then welcome to do so. Our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are here Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

    All the Best,

    Catherine
