Worried about not starting Chemo

I had clips/markers fitted in my breast & node early this week to start my chemotherapy on Friday, but the nurse called tonight to say my Covid test is positive ( I don't have any symptoms!) & I can't start for another 2 weeks. I am oestrogen & HER2 positive & I'm worried the delay will mean my cancer will spread further.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I can understand that having to postpone your chemotherapy because of COVID must be disappointing for you. But I don't think the doctors have any option but to postpone treatment until you have a negative test as they don't want to put you or other patients at risk.

Most doctors would probably say that a short chemotherapy delay of two weeks is very unlikely to cause you any harm or make the cancer spread.

I hope that this explains things a little more, and that you are able to start your chemotherapy soon.

Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,
