MRI Liver

Hello All..

I have had a MRI scan with Hepatobiliary contrast after having a CT scan the week previous which highlighted something abnormal Liver wise.

Is the MRI with contrast used to detect anything specifically or is this just a routine procedure.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

An MRI with contrast highlights tissues and blood vessels within a particular organ to show up more clearly and in greater detail. A doctor will sometimes suggest an MRI scan if the CT scan hasn't been able to give all the information they need.

The NHS website has some information on having an MRI scan at this link.

I hope this helps. Give us a ring if you want to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes,

    Celene
