Armpit lump for 2 months

Hi,
I have armpit lump for more than 2 months .Went to see GP she checked and said it's soft and can't feel any thing hard .Did my ultrasound and my GP said that they were unable to measure few parts in scan not sure if anyone knows(unable to measure ) means? Now GP referred me to MRI scan .I Have no symptoms to worry about lump it's quite big can say 2cm seems like fat lump .I just feel very tired .Any one experience the same thing .

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

Ultrasound scans use high frequency sound waves to create a picture of a part of the body. The ultrasound scanner has a microphone that gives off sound waves. The sound waves bounce off the organs inside your body, and are picked up again by the microphone. The microphone links to a computer. This turns the sound waves into a picture.

I am afraid I can't say why the doctor was unable to measure the lump but hopefully with the help on an MRI the doctors will be able to know more. It is not uncommon to have more then one test in trying to work out what is causing the enlarged lymph node.

I know that waiting for different tests can be unsettling but try if you can to not let your mind run away with you.

I can understand that it is comforting hearing from others on the forum but do remember that everyone's situation is slightly different so it is difficult to compare one person with another.

If you feel it would be helpful to talk any of this through with one of the helpline nurses then you are very welcome to get back to us. We are here Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, Freephone 0808 800 4040.

    All the Best,
