Ovarian cysts

Been through lotsa pain throughout the years, fertility problems the lot... But after a recent stay in hospital in march I was told I'd a cyst on right ovary 4x8cm, just this week I was told I have 3 cysts.. 2 on right ovary 5x8cm an 3x3cm.. Dunno the size of left one.. I have now been bleedin 14days, 1st 7 days normal then pain came very bad stabbing pain an now bleeding heavier... I have appointments for consultation end of july... Should I wait or go see doc sooner... Why am i bleeding so much?? Should I be worried had 1 in March now have 3..right ovary basically blocked...

  • I would see a doctor asap as ovarian cysts can twist which will cause you more problems and pain. I've had multiple cysts over the years and they can turn into emergencies if you ignore increasing pain and bleeding. The worst that can happen is they send you away hopefully having reassured you.

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about the symptoms you are having and appreciate knowing you have cysts must be a worry for you. There can be many reasons for symptoms such as bleeding and unfortunately no one here will be able to tell you the cause of your current bleeding.

It is good to hear you have an appointment to see the consultant at the end of the month and hopefully you will be told a plan of what needs to happen next then.

However if this bleeding is continuing I would speak to your GP or the hospital sooner to let them know so they can reassess you and say what may be causing it.

I hope things improve for you soon and that everything will be okay.

    Take care

  • Thank you for your reply,

I have an appointment end July, MRI in Nov but that's too long away so gona go private.. 15 days now bleeding.. Very bad pain last few days, rang hospital today have to ring tomorrow again to see if I can talk to someone... Absolute disgrace if I'm honest...

  • I have had complex ovarian cysts found unexpectedly during a colonoscopy and subsequently removed by the gynaecology oncology surgeon, when they were scanning and repeated by the gynaecology secretary,  they said to come back if l had problems, as they can burst  not to leave symptoms if causing severe unusual pain or bleeding ect, go to A&E  My operation was within 6/weeks of the scans,

l would speak to the surgeon or secretary and see what they advise before going privately, the surgeon rang me back when l contacted the secretary, you would see the same dr and pay a lot, just to go to the private hospital appointments. l have found the NHS to be amazing when lve needed surgery for breast problems and now gynaecology oncology they are not so hot if you have a cut finger when they say look after it yourself. Or take Paracetamol and see if it's better.

I was a surgical nurse and said that to a patient newly diagnosed with cancer l later met him on a high care ward and he said l was right the care he had was amazing following diagnosis. The NHS had really sorted his problems out quickly.

l am sorry to hear that your having pain and bleeding, your dr could ring the hospital for advice, my dr did for breast problems she couldn't solve. I had the answers the next day from my Drs then the surgeon rang ten minutes later. It was much easier than waiting for the appointment, the secretary has spoken with the surgeon for me and replied the same day

    Take care
