Breast clinic visit

Hi,

Hope everyone is doing okay.

I've just got back from the Breast clinic.

They were running nearly two hours late which I know can't be helped but my anxiety was so bad.

I had a check and an ultrasound scan and am now waiting another few weeks for another scan.

The consultant didn't say what scan this would be. I know they are really busy but it all felt so rushed.

Do you think this would be a mammogram as I had an ultrasound today?

thank you

  • Hello there Gemma and thanks for posting

I appreciate going for tests can be a worrying time and needing to wait a long time to be seen must have been unsettling for you.

No one here is going to be able to tell you much more about what this scan may be about in a few weeks time, so do try and call the breast unit to ask them.

There could be a couple of things going on like they want to repeat the ultrasound if they saw something they were unsure about or to have another scan such as mammogram because it wasn't available on the day or they were short staffed. But I can't say for sure, so do speak to them to find out.

Try not to worry too much as I am sure if they had been overly concerned they would have carried out more tests on the day or would be seeing you sooner.

    Take care

    Naomi

  • Hi Gemma, I'm sorry you're going through this - it's not easy, is it? Nobody knows what they meant but a phone call might give you more info. From my experience, I had a mammo and ultrasound and biopsy on the same day and then an MRI a couple of weeks later - this last one found the little aliens hiding away in my breast and a more accurate size of them. Please call them and ask - I hope you get good news but, whatever, I'm sure you're in the best hands - hug on its way
