supraclavicular Lymphnode

Do swollen supraclaviclar lymph nodes come out of the skin if they are cancerous? I can only feel for mine when I feel for it and it doesn't look swollen and if I hunch my shoulders and put my fingers in the dip it doesn't feel swollen is that normal?

  • Hello Abi_95 and thanks for posting,

I'm not sure what you mean by coming out of the skin but size is usually a factor in assessing lymph nodes and as a general rule, lymph nodes less than a centimetre aren't usually anything to worry about. Larger nodes might not turn out to be either but they would probably need assessing.

From what you say, it doesn't sound like you have an obviously swollen lymph node and I think when your read about swollen supraclavicular lymph nodes, which I think you may have,  they are more likely to be noticeable.

As I mentioned last time you posted, it is rather tricky for us to assess our own lymph nodes whereas doctors do this all the time so are in a better place to decide what feels out of the ordinary.

I know you have made an appointment, try not to worry in the meantime.

    All the best,

    Julia
