Painless lymph nodes in groin & clear bloods

Hi,

I have had a few swollen lymph nodes on the right side of my groin for a few months now. You can easily see them. I haven't really had any other symptoms, however on chat with nurse, maybe some weight loss, on and off night sweats but not for a while now.

I have a couple of questions. I am pretty thin. the thinest ive been , althoug i have always been slim. Could it just be becaus eof that you can see them? Nurse said she could feel them on th eotherside but you can't see them really just to look at.

Also I have had blood test which all came back normal except low folate. I have a doctors appointment in a couple of weeks, but could it still be somehting like lymphoma even with normal blood results? Should i be expecting/asking for a lymph node biopsy from doctor or am I being overly dramatic?

Thanks for any thoughts in advance.

As most people i am now obsessive googling and finding myself falling down a hole of internet stories... silly me!

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

The doctor will assess you and decide whether there needs to be any further examination. It is not unusual for the nodes in the groin, armpits or neck to become swollen when the bodies immune system is fighting of an infection or bacteria, even ones we aren't aware of.

It can be hard to resist it, but I would suggest to try and not google anymore as it can cause unnecessary worry about things that may not relate to your situation. I would just wait and talk it through with your doctor at the appointment. Do discuss with them your concerns about lymphoma, but you should be reassured that your bloods were all fine.

Take care, and hopefully you will know more soon.

    Sarah.
