Back from breast clinic appointment

Hi I hope its OK to post here so around 2 weeks ago my right breast became very inflamed painful and a lump was prominent under my areola gp gave me a weeks course of antibiotics and referred me to the breast clinic , I had my appointment today the antibiotics have cleared the "infection" redness and swelling all gone down but a small lump remains , had ultrasound today and they said it shows inflamatory changes within the breast tissue but no active infection now so I have to go back in 1 week to have the scan repeated to see if this changes , just wondering if anyone has had anything similar and if the changes did go back to normal after second scan , doctor said to me if all does ill be discharged if mot further tests may be needed .

Obviously slightly concerned but reassured the antibotics helped the pain ect

Just now worried ill go back and the changes are still present and if so what could this mean

Thanks in advance

  • Hello and thanks for posting.

I'm sorry that you have these concerns, but it's good to hear you have responded well to the antibiotics and things are improving.

It is difficult to say how things may be at the next ultrasound, but it is good they are going to review you again.

Do remember that although other forum users may come forward with their own experiences their situations are going to be very individual to them.

Unfortunately it is the waiting until your next appointment that may be tricky and could cause you more worry. Keeping yourself busy, so your mind is occupied, will hopefully help time pass.

Take care, and you should know more soon.

    Sarah.
