Bone Lesion, Thoughts?

Hello.

I've had shoulder and collar bone pain for the past year, it's a discomfort that's alway there with shoulder stiffness.

I have now developed new symptoms which include neck pain and stiffness, shooting pain down the arm into the hand, pain behind breast and stiffness in elbow and pain in legs.

My x ray came back with a sclerotic lesion on my collar bone, my bloods have come back clear apart from Folate-deficiency anemia which they have prescribed folic acid

no other investigation, feeling abit let down.

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about the symptoms you have been having and appreciate you wanting some more answers as to what may be causing these.

It seems you have had an xray which has shown a sclerotic lesion in your collar bone. Sclerotic lesion is when the bone thickens or hardens, in most cases it is caused by a benign condition (not cancer) and are commonly linked to conditions such as arthritis.

No one on here can say much more I'm afraid but I would suggest speaking to your GP again and airing your greatest fears and asking if there are any other tests that could be done to put your mind at ease.

Let them know about any changes or developments in the symptoms you have so they can reassess you and go back to the drawing board if necessary. Just to say most symptoms won't be the result of cancer and sometimes there can be more than one thing going on in the body at one time that are unrelated, so try not over think things if you can.

I hope you know more soon and you are able to get some respite from the pain you are having.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
