Tender armpit

I just thought it best me write it out and see if I get a response rather than keep reading others.

my anxiety is awful, it's taking over my life any niggly pain or discomfort I immediately resort to the worst have a emotional breakdown and think that's it my life's ending.

my son came to lay next to me today and he put his head on my armpit whikst my arms were behind my head it hurts a lot I just up and felt my armpit and it felt swollen no pea sized lumps it feels as if it's a muscle but it's hard and tender to touch, I had a breast examination last month and dr said she couldn't feel anything.
bug anxiety says she's wrong it's been missed and now it's too late

here's hoping someone may be able to call my anxiety down and give me a better explanation than the C.

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

It isn't unusual to feel tenderness in our armpits, particularly if our body is maybe fighting off any infection, as the lymph nodes can become swollen.

If you are concerned then you will need to talk this through with your GP as they are the only ones who can assess you.

Take care, and maybe if you do see the doctor it would be good to chat about your health anxiety too.

    Sarah.

  • Hi Sarah

thank you for you response. I'm much better today I have been on antibiotics so I imagine swelling is due to infection. It's easy to jump straight to the worst scenario and then anxiety takes over. I will be visiting the gp next week.

    kind regards
