Biopsy

10 days ago I had a biopsy on both breasts following MRI & Mammogram images which showed some lumps - I had the clip markers put in and ever since I've been experiencing throbbing pains every now and then - I've been asked to come for repeat biopsy on right side as sample taken missed the spot whilst left side showed fibroids. I really wish I didn't have to repeat the biopsy my right side is very sensitive and i'm going to have to repeat mammogram too I actually started crying during my 2nd mammogram - all this as I have the missing BRCA 1 gene

  • Hello Nina, and thanks for posting,

I'm sorry you are having a miserable time with these biopsies. Unfortunately some people do find all these investigations uncomfortable, but at the same time know that they need to be done.

I think it would be good to talk to the team at the hospital about the level of discomfort you are experiencing. Also I wonder if you are taking regular over the counter painkillers to help. You could call the unit and ask if you should take painkillers before you go in for the repeat procedures so you already have some in your system.

Hopefully once they have done their investigations this time they will have their answers, but I appreciate that waiting for the repeat biopsy and scan and then results will build these feelings of discomfort up for you too.

I hope you have support Nina to talk through how you are feeling about all of this, it can be good to talk it out with someone you trust. I have placed some information here which may be of use.

Take care, and if you need to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline the number is Freephone 0808 800 4040, 9am till 5pm, Monday to Friday.

    Sarah.
