Breast lump found on Chest CT scan

Hi,

New here but couldn't find anything related so apologies if I'm posting incorrectly or in the wrong place.

Had a call from a doctor today saying when I underwent a chest CT scan last month it showed a nodule in my left breast so she has referred me to the breast clinic.

I can't feel the lump, no strange feelings in the breast or any other symptoms.

Has anyone else been through this? I'm floored that I just never knew it was there.

    I understand it can come as a shock to find out something is sitting there that you haven't been aware of, but as you will see from this link here there are breast conditions that are not cancer. Until you are seen and properly reviewed in the breast clinic no one is going to know what this might be, so other forum users may come forward with their own stories, but do remember everyone's experience is individual to them.

    I am in the exact same situation right now

    chest Ct scan - found somthing in my breast and been referred to one stop breast clinic - my appointment is Tuesday. 
    i can't feel nothing I have no pain or discomfort or any other symptoms 

     

    im worried but also wondering could it just be a cyst. 
    can the ct scan not tell the difference between a cyst and cancer?

    Hi Babyoleg and thanks for posting,

    It does sound like you're having a worrying time at the moment.

    CT scans can be used to help make a cancer diagnosis.  They give a detailed image of of the inside of your body and help to build up a picture of what is happening.  They can show the size and shape of cysts or tumours and where they are in your body, and give clues about what the lump may be.  

    So although a CT scan can help with finding or ruling out cancer, it cannot tell your team for certain if a lump is a cyst or cancer.  Other tests are needed to confirm whether a lump is cancer or not.  This is why you have been referred to the one stop breast clinic. We have some information here about the different tests for diagnosing breast cancer. 

    Many people find it is difficult waiting to have tests and for results, it can be useful to try and keep busy to distract yourself.  It may also help to remember that most women who go to the breast clinic do not have cancer.
