Unknown lump

Hey all I'm 20 and I've had this small pea sized lump in my labia minora (I think it's called that) it's been there for about 2 months. No pain, no change in size. I'm concerned because I thought it was a bartholin's cyst so I was given antibiotics by my gp. It hasn't went away. I'm scared to be examined, should I be worried? There's no discolouration, no pain either. Help x

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

Lumps in the body are pretty common and most will be harmless and settle after a short while. At your age any cancer would be extremely unlikely so there is probably a simple reason for this lump.

Bartholin cysts here as you say are a common cause in this region but rarely need antibiotics unless they become infected and painful. They can take a while to go away but only need removing/draining if they become very large, painful and troublesome.

I appreciate it can be scary to be examined but if needed you could ask to see a female GP. They are very used to seeing peoples private parts and will try and put you at ease and it really shouldn't take very long at all.

No one here can say what this but if it is worrying you it really would be best to get a doctor to take a look at it for your own peace of mind.

    Take care

    Naomi

  • Thank you for your advice, I really appreciate it. I'll definitely get checked out if I notice any changes at all as it hasn't changed for about 2 months. Thank you again, take care
