Hi diagnosed with lung cancer ( early stages ) ex smoker, devastated, scared for everyone else , don't know who to turn to , feel as though I need to deal with this myself,
Hello and thanks for your post,
I am sorry to hear about your situation and I can understand if you have recently heard this news you are probably still coming to terms with it.
I am sure all your friends and family would want to help you whilst you are going through any treatment.
It is good that you have posted on Cancer Chat. You have posted on 'ask the nurses' but you may find you get more responses from other patients going through a similar situation if you post in a different area.
It can help to read up about your cancer and your different treatment options and so you have more information to make it easier to make any decisions about your next steps.
We have pages on our website about lung cancer which you can see here
and types of treatment depending on the lung cancer here
There are lots of resources available for people diagnosed with lung cancer. We have a list of some of these support organisations here
I am not sure where you are living but you maybe near a Maggie Centre which are Cancer Centres near certain hospitals up and down the country. They offer free support for patients and their relatives. Have a look at their details here
You may also be given a lung specialist nurse who will help support you whilst you are going through any treatment.
Do try and talk to your family because support from those close to you can be invaluable.
You are also more then welcome to ring one of our helpline nurses to go through any of this. Our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are here Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
Very Best Wishes,
Catherine
