Hello,
right now I'm having a lot of exams among other things for a significant weight loss (46 pounds). And during an MRI I was diagnosed with splenomegaly (enlarged spleen).
It is now measure 15 cm.
But, I had found that 17 years ago, I already had enlarged spleen.
2005: 14 cm
2013: 14.5 cm
2022: 15 cm
I am 46 years old.
What could explain this small increase over time?
My blood work is pretty good overall except for a big drop in ferritin (but no drop in hemoglobin)
Does the spleen get bigger until a certain age?
the first 2 exams, in 2005 and 2013, were ultrasounds, and then an MRI. Does it change the way measurements are made?
Could this explain some kind of discomfort/pain below the ribs on the left? Or the spleen is still too "small" to hurt.
So, with Dr Google, you can quickly panic. If some can tell me about this apparently slow increase in the volume of the spleen.
If you have similar experiences or opinions/info to share...
Thanks. :-)
