Scared

Hi,

Im a 42 year old mum of two. I recently started noticing a creamy yellow discharge in my bra, coming from one breast only, so I've booked an appointment with the dr for next week. Last night I was checking myself and found a hard lump in my nipple, now I'm terrified.
I'm winding myself up something rotten, clutching at straws. Mr Google is not my friend. I've barely been able to concentrate, I cry every time I see my kids & hubby and think the worst. I'm a mess.

  • Hi Larry,

Ive had my appointment, I've been referred to the hospital, she found a cm lump, so now I've got to go through the motions.

I'm relieved this bit is out the way but equally still nervous about what's to come.

How are you? How did you get on at the Dr?

  • Hi Hazel,

I got great news in the end. The doc first showed the mammogram on her screen and pointed out a shadowy mass. It was very deep inside the breast and by the chest wall. So, it couldn't be really felt from the outside. It was about the size of a thumb on the screen, but the mammogram was zoomed in. I guess it would be about the size of a pea or even smaller in real life. But I didn't ask. I just sat there and listened. Half petrified. But then she said she hoped and had "reasons to believe" it was a cyst, but she wasn't 100% sure. And at the moment, I was so relieved becos I finally saw some hope.

And yea, it turned out it was indeed just a cyst. The doc drained it while she was doing the ultrasound. Then, another mammogram was done to confirm it.

I really hope you'll soon hear good news like I did today. Also, thank you for the support you hv given me for the past few days. Fingers crossed for you.

    Best wishes

    Larry

  • Oh Larry,

I'm so pleased for you, I really am! That's fantastic news!!! I'm absolutely made up for you!

I really hope so because I feel like now as the day has gone on I'm getting more nervous about the referral appointment. My mind is again all over the place. I'm away at the Isle of Wight festival on Thursday with friends and it's definitely whats needed at the moment.

You are most welcome, thankyou for your support too.

Make sure you stay on here and I'll update you when I can.
Again, lots of love to you

  • Hi Larry,

I had a wonderful time thanks , it was very much needed.

my appointment is on 5th July in the afternoon so I'm keeping myself extra busy this next week. My eldest has his mocks starting tomorrow and my youngest goes for a taster week to secondary school week beginning 4th.

    Hope you are well,

thanks so much for reaching out.

  • Hi Larry,

Hope you are keeping well, so my appointment is on Tuesday but on Monday I've got a job interview as a library assistant in a primary school so I've been heavily focused on that which has kept my mind of this.. my youngest son also goes to his induction week at secondary school on Monday so I've got to make sure he's got everything for that and my eldest son has gone for a taster day at his local college today. So it's been chaos the last few days but it's great chaos!
    Sending lots of love

  • Hi Hazel,

    I'm doing ok. Thank you:happy:

It's been a while since my school days. Don't really know what schools are like these days. But it's good that your eldest is doing a taster. Hope he is getting a good feel for what college life is like. Secondary school induction weeks just feel so remote from my life, but it's a good chance for your youngest to make new friends. And speaking of primary school librarians, I can now only recall some very vague images of what the library of my primary school looked like (not saying i'm old :laugh::laugh:) But of course, I hope you will nail your interview
