My right nipple feels cold on and off

I've seen my doctor about my nipple, I saw him about 2 to 3 months ago and he said I was fine. Funnily enough I had a regular Mammogram appointment not long after seeing the doctor. My results came back clear but I'm still getting an icy/cold feeling and very occasionally my breast aches.

I have a feeling that a Mammogram doesn't pick everything up, am I right I'm saying this? I'm thinking about going back to my doctor.

I meant to say I exercise a fair bit and my main exercise is powerwalking, not sure if that would cause, in some way, what I'm experiencing.

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

I'm sorry that you are having this problem, but good to hear you've been recently assessed and the mammogram was clear.

Sometimes exercise can affect the skin of the nipple due to it being so thin and sensitive, and the rubbing of clothing can cause discomfort. This is often called joggers nipple. There is various advice online about how to prevent this, this website for example.

This said I think if you remain concerned you should speak to your GP again.

Take care, and I hope you know more soon.

    Sarah.

  • Thank you so much Sarah for replying, I really appreciate it.

I didn't think of 'joggers nipple', I do exercise a lot so can understand. I wear crop tops designed for exercise and some aren't as good as others and my breasts can sometimes move a bit, so I totally understand what you are saying.

I'll keep a close eye on my breasts: I do check them regularly as I moisturise them after my shower in the evening.

Thank you once again, much appreciated.
