Advice

Hi, for last 5/6 months I've felt there is something not right. I've been to the Dr regarding feeling unusually tired (cat naps 6/7 afternoons) feeling/being sick. A full blood work was taken, every thing was lower end of normal I was given iron tables (I started taking Vit D,C and calcium) recently re tested but no change. I also have been having night sweats, being sick/nausea (no clear reason why) and difficulty swallowing (selivia, food) I've also found a small lump in my neck just under jaw (size of a peanut). We have Diabetes ( mum, cousin brother grandad) and leukemia (grandad, great uncle) in the family. Should I be worried?

  • Hello and thankyou for your post.

If your symptoms do not get better in the next few weeks then you might want to go back and let your GP know. I am afraid that we are unable to say what, if anything is the matter.

You might want to see if taking steps to improve your daily activities help such as walking , eating well and sleeping well at night helps you. If you have not tried doing all that already. But if you continue to feel unwell then perhaps go back to your GP and if you have not already done so let them know about your family history of diabetes although your blood sugar level may have already been checked.  Leukaemia does not usually run in families but do talk about your concerns with your GP.

I hope you will be ok. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
