Hello I am sorry to learn about how distressed you are feeling.  It is always difficult waiting for the results of tests and I am sure many people would describe similar feelings to you in the same circumstances.  But don't jump to conclusions about what might be the cause of your problems.  Calprotectin tends to be raised in conditions that lead to inflamation in the bowel.  Although it can sometimes be raised in bowel cancer it is most commonly used to try and distinguish between Irritable Bowel Syndrome and other diseases that are not cancer but cause inflammation of the lining of the bowel.  So just because this is raised in your case does not necessarily mean you have bowel cancer and it could very easily be something else that is causing your problems.

As this is a cancer forum, it might be best not to linger too much on here right now, it is quite possible that you don't have cancer, but chatting on here will keep it front of mind and is likely to increase your anxiety rather than reducing it.
