I can appreciate your concern, I wonder if the nurse or doctor told you why you are being referred to the colposcopy clinic.

Remember that bleeding can occur and not be related to cancer. For example women can develop a cervical ectropion which appears as a raw looking area on the surface of the cervix. Sometimes when it is touched during sex and/or cervical screening it can bleed.  If it bleeds easily it can be treated to remove it , that may be why you have been referred to the colposcopy unit. There are other reasons for example hormonal changes and fibroids, so please try not to assume you have cancer.

I realise that this must be worrying but try to keep your mind of this (if you can) and be reassured that you will be seen by the specialist team at the colposcopy clinic and get more information about why this happened.
