Advice and Guidance please - breast issue

Hello

I had a mammogram about 6 weeks ago which came back clear - but since then my right breast has been extremely irritated.  It is itching alot around the nipple and breast but does come and go - Also sometimes feel the nipple is leaking but can see nothing - It just does not feel right - My mum had tubular breast cancer when she was 60 and I am 53, 54 this year.  Any advice on what it might be that is causing this - I have done my research and considered pagets maybe but not sure wo would welcome any guidance - thank you xx

    Hi Squashy,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear that your breast has felt irritated since you had your mammogram. It would be worth having a word with your GP, who should be able to prescribe something to reduce the itching. Explain that you don't feel happy with the way your breast feels, despite having had a clear mammogram, also let them know that there is a family history of breast cancer.

With this information, I would expect your GP to examine you and refer you back to the breast clinic if anything untoward is felt or noticed.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. we are always here for you. I am hoping and praying that it is still good news.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

I am afraid that we are unable to give you a medical opinion about what could be causing your breast symptoms. If you are concerned you should make a GP appointment to get checked out.

I am sorry to hear that your mum had breast cancer and I realise that this will worry you and perhaps make you think that this will happen to you. But having cancer in the family does not mean you will necessarily develop it, most people would not.

Do make a GP appointments to talk through your concerns and I hope you will be okay

    Take care,

    Caroline
