I am sorry to hear of this. No, it can be sore but not severe pain. 

It may have moved and be rubbing somewhere. I would give the hospital breast team a ring, and let them know. If you can access your GP or Practice Nurse, then they can also assess you.

Hi Vanda, thanks for your reply. I gave in and visited the EDC last night. They checked and changed the drain. Was still so very painful overnight, but my lovely nurse visited me this morning and straight away said it needed to come out. What a relief, she said it was touching a nerve and instant relief when removed.
