Tattoo after Hodgkins Lymphoma?

Hi,

In 2011 I had Hodgkins Lymphoma and did a few sessions of chemotherapy for like half a year and if I remember correctly been cancer free since 2014 or 2015. The lump was on the right side close to the neck. I am tempted to have a tattoo done somewhere on my right hand and I am wondering if there are any risks of getting cancer again? Or is there any kind of tattoo that I can have done that doesn't imply any risk to my health? I would like some kind of guidance or advice please.

thanks.

  • Hello londongeorge and thanks for your post

The skin can be more sensitive after chemotherapy , so to be on the safe side I think it would be sensible for you to check with specialist team or your GP about getting a tattoo, as they are familiar with all your medical details.

Some tattooists may also ask for a letter from your doctor to check that it is safe for you to have one. You might want to discuss with the tattooist about having a patch test to check for any signs of a skin reaction.

I hope this helps.Give us a ring if you would like to talk things through. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
