Unfortunately, in a small number of patients this can happen. There are various reasons why a wound takes longer to close. This can take weeks to months. Having a very healthy diet can help wound healing. You can always check with your community nurses about your wound care plan, and what time frame they think is reasonable in which to see an improvement. Sometimes, further advice can be obtained from a community tissue viability nurse. These are nurses that have experience and additional training, in treating a wide range of different wounds.
