Lump

Hi everyone;

I found a hard, pea sized lump in my vagina; something felt not quite right and that's how I found it. I saw my gp (finally; I've left it weeks to see if it would go away) last Friday, who has referred me into gynaecology under the 2 week pathway. I think I got dressed faster than she anticipated as when walked back around the screen, she was reading about vaginal carcinomas on the computer. She did apologise for me seeing it.

On Monday, I got a phone call from the hospital to arrange a telephone consultation with the consultant. How can that be right? How can a lump be diagnosed accurately over the phone? I'm just a bit worried I'll not get seen by anyone. Just to add: I've lost well over 20lbs, I'm bleeding on and off all the time and my doctor is also treating me for chronic pain in my low right side (900mg gabapentin and prescription cocodamol).

  • Hello and thanks for posting

    I am sorry to hear about the symptoms you are having that understandably must be a worry.

    You have done the right thing by seeing your GP and it is good you have been referred urgently.

    Try not to read too much into the initial telephone consultation with the consultant as this will help them gather information about your symptoms. From there I am sure they will arrange a face to face with a plan for some other tests that they may wish to carry out to find out more.

    Hopefully you will have some answers soon but in the mean time do get back if you have more questions or if you would like give us a call on 0808 800 4040 mon-fri 9-5.

    All the best

    Naomi
