Lymph node removal not cancer

I recently had a lymph node removed, it is not believed to be sinister as I've had it years and it's been scanned etc. it has been 10 days and now I can touch it, it feels like the lump is still there. Is it normal to have a lump the size of the scar? I have had no feedback post op even before I left the hospital....I am hoping this is a good sign as if they'd have found something or not been able to remove anything I'd have thought they'd have spoken to me.

any feedback appreciated

  • I have had a lymph node removed from under my arm it was there for years before I had it removed, not cancerous fortunately. The wound was fine for 4 days then started leaking and it continued for about 4/6 weeks, l had to change the dressing frequently as it was soaked. I hope you don't have this problem, And every thing heals quickly.

  • Hello there

It isn't unusual to experience some swelling to the soft tissues around where the lymph node has been removed so try not to read too much into this for now.

I suggest you try and speak to the hospital or your GP about follow up and when and how you are likely to get these results.

    Wishing you all the best
