Adrecortosol carsanoma

Hi guys

just some advise really , my partner has Recenctly had his adrenal gland removed due to a large mass that was found - it has been diagnosed as cancer the very rare one .apologies I can't spell it,,

although they said they removed the mass he was due to be given the mititone chemo drug.. however they have put this on hold having further discussion over this and have now said he has to go for a ct thorax scan I'm confused as to why . We really aren't getting any update from the hospital for forthcoming information..

any advise would be helpful

many thanks

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I'm sorry to read about your partner's situation. This must be a difficult time for you both.

We do have some information on our website on Adrenal cortical cancer which you can read by clicking here

I'm afraid I can't be specific why the doctors want to do a thorax CT scan but scans are often done to try and help stage (extent) of the cancer and whether it has spread. Knowing the extent of the cancer helps the doctors to work out what treatment your partner needs. His hospital team are better placed to clarify this for you both, so do ask them when you get the chance.

I hope this is of some help. Give us a ring if you want to talk any of this over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
